Our 30th season opening concerts feature Mike Hagedorn in Goedicke’s Concert Etude for Trumpet,

Becky Maresciuc in the Rondo from the First Concerto for Clarinet by von Weber,

and our saxophone section in Bencriscutto’s Concerto Grosso for Sax Quartet and Band.

The program also features Strauss’ Radetsky March, Bach’s Toccata and Fugue,

and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Sheherezade.

We present music inspired by and dedicated to the pursuit of freedom. Copland’s Lincoln Portrait,

Alfred Reed’s Armenian Dances, Stravinsky’s Suite from the Firebird, Peterson’s Hymn to Freedom,

Strauss’ Death and Transfiguration, and Sousa’s march The Liberty Bell.

Respighi’s Pines of Rome, H. Owen Reed’s La Fiesta Mexicana, and Karl King’s Circus Days March.

Our music director Dan Warren will perform John Cowell’s Blood of the Brave Bull.

Our season finale presents a collection of favourite music for concert band including

Holst’s First Suite for Military Band Eb, Andre Jutras’ Three Folk Miniatures,

Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, Piston’s Tunbridge Fair,

and several movements from Holst’s The Planets.
