The Wellington Wind Symphony proudly presents the final concert of our
2023-2024 Season:

What’s “boomba,” you ask? Is it a new dance craze? Something really, really loud? Well, you’ll have to come to the concert and find out! (Hint: it might involve one or some of us doing something crazy!) This WWS concert is just plain FUN. Kevin Day’s “Havana,” (will there be cigars? Yeah) and Alfred Reed’s beloved, “El Camino Real.” And, would a concert really be ‘fun’ if it didn’t have some John Williams? We think not!

2023-2024 Season

Hear Us Roar!, October 29 2023 @ 3pm
Sounds of the Season, December 10 2023 @ 7:30pm
Tales of Grimm, March 3 2024 @ 3pm
Boomba!, April 28 2024 @ 3pm

  • Our friends in the KW Community Orchestra have a concert tomorrow - check it out, if you are able!

There are quite a few of our WWS members in this group, and the soloist is phenomenal. This will be a great evening of music!

  • Next up in exciting news from the Wellington Wind Symphony, our board of directors is very happy to announce that we have replaced our percussion gear, and it is beginning to arrive in it's new home!

You may recall that our trailer full of percussion equipment was stolen in November 2022. After a lengthy process, our insurance was able to cover replacements, along with donations raised from our Go-Fund-Me Campaign. Thank you very much to all who contributed!

This new equipment will be housed in a much more secure and instrument friendly location, and we are looking forward to making great use of it for many years to come! Many thanks also to @woodshedpercussion who were excellent to work with on a VERY condensed schedule.

Come hear it in action at our next concert, April 28th at Knox Presbyterian Church.

@cjohnstonturner

Dr. Johnston Turner has been working with the Wellington Wind Symphony since November as our Guest Conductor for the 2023-2024 season, and we are delighted that she has agreed to stay on with our organization next season and beyond. In the short time she has been with us, she has already demonstrated an ability to affect positive change. The response from our membership was unanimously in favour of her taking on this role, and we are all so excited to see what the future has in store for the Winds with Cindi providing her musical leadership.

Onward!
